Meet The Team.

Beverly Simmons
Founder & President
Beverly Simmons, from Los Angeles, California, has dedicated her life to volunteering since she was five years old. After graduating from San Fernando High School in 1981 at age 18, she began her career in finance with Dial Financial and Norwest Financial Corporation. She served as the lead administrator for customer service and consumer loans. These roles ignited her passion for helping individuals attain financial independence, which became the cornerstone of her lifelong commitment to making a positive impact on people’s lives. She was called to become the first Girls’ Program Director at the Boys and Girls Club of San Fernando Valley. In this capacity, she imparted knowledge to youth in culinary arts, dance, theater, and, of course, financial literacy. In 1988, Beverly enlisted in the United States Air Force and set numerous records as the first person to achieve significant milestones in challenging aircraft components worldwide. She received the nickname Logistics Genius and, in 2001, was hand-selected as the noncommissioned officer in charge of base Suriname, South America, as a Staff Sergeant (E-5), a position recognized by the Army General for her exceptional work ethic. After returning from overseas, she transitioned into the paralegal career field and continued to set historical data for Record of Trials (ROT) at the legal office at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, DC. Beverly was awarded and selected to represent the noncommissioned officers at the Air Force Memorial dedication on October 14, 2006, with President George W. Bush. After an extraordinary 22-year tenure in the military, Beverly was medically retired as a Master Sergeant. Throughout her military career, she spearheaded numerous humanitarian initiatives in Arizona, California, Florida, Panama, and Washington, D.C. Driven by a profound sense of purpose, Beverly founded “Praying for Pennies,” an organization dedicated to help feed the hungry and providing sustenance to those in dire need worldwide.

Darlene DeMoss
Vice President
Darlene DeMoss is a woman whose life has been defined by service, strength, and an unshakable belief that hope always has the final word. A retired Army officer with over 20 years of honorable military service, Darlene has dedicated her life to protecting and uplifting others—first in uniform, then through nonprofit leadership, and later by returning to serve her country at the U.S. Senate before retiring in May 2025. Yet it was her own seasons of profound loss that gave birth to her most powerful calling: helping others heal. In 2021, Darlene, affectionately known as The Hope Coach, founded The Hope Collective, a transformational coaching practice that supports individuals navigating grief, loss, relational difficulties, and life transitions. As a licensed minister, Certified Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist, Transformational Loss and Recovery coach and speaker, and a staff coach with the Daniels Coaching Group of Atlanta, GA., Darlene speaks, teaches, and coaches with heart, humor, and deep insight—encouraging people to reimagine what possible after loss and reminding them that brokenness is not the end of the story. Darlene holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Maryland.
